Stuff and junk
My kids got iTunes gift cards from the Easter Bunny and they finally redeemed them. Lots of Hannah Montana and American Idol songs from my daughter and They Might Be Giants and Maroon 5 from my son. We spent most of yesterday around the house doing chores and hanging out. But it doesn’t feel like we did much of either. Today is cleaning and paying taxes. Yech. I was woken up by our Golden...

All Growed Up
Nothing makes you feel like a grown-up quite like sitting in a public meeting with county school board reps and one of county supervisors. Ugh. Our county is having a pretty severe budget issue this year because of the slow housing market. So a bunch of parents and PTA members formed a coalition to make sure our voices are heard as the supervisors approve budgets and hand out money. I did get...

Bike Season
The weather has turned sunny! We bought the kids new bikes and have spent time the past two days teaching our son to ride a “big kid” bike (no training wheels) and re-teaching our daughter (since it’s been a while, AND she has a larger bike). Movie Review: Horton Hears a Who
We went to see Horton Hears a Who this weekend. Four thumbs up! The graphics were amazing. A photo-realistic cartoon style is the only way I can think to explain it. The voice casting was superb too. Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell were perfect. Scene after scene of hilarity that had us belly laughing the whole way through. I seriously can’t recommend this movie enough … even if you don’t have...

Can you just stick me already!?!
I had a doctor’s appointment yesterday morning and forgot to fast so they could draw blood. So I fasted last night and went in this morning to the lab. Of course it was packed. PACKED! Like, people waiting in the hall because there wasn’t room in the waiting room. Was there a tiberculosis outbreak I wasn’t told about? Why so many people? The lady standing next to me counted all the people and...

Home Improvement
We’re working on a built-in desk in our family room. We had a closet along one wall that we used to use for storage, then we put a desk in there, now we’re building in a desk. Its not a very big project, but time consuming. We’re staining the shelves to match the rest of the wood in the room. We’ve also installed lights, a cable outlet, and an electrical outlet. As is our M.O. on home...
