Google Voice is Cool, But Do You Need It? [Lifehacker]
The answer is “YES”! I signed up back when it was GrandCentral and use it as my work “cell” number. It then rings my actual cell and my work Blackberry.
- Nobody knows my real cell number so they can’t bother me whenever they want
- I can setup groups and setup different rules for different groups … depending on who’s calling me, Google Voice will behave differently
- I can listen in while the caller is leaving a voicemail and decide whether to jump in or not
- Google Voice transcribes the voice mail and sends me an email of the text (a little buggy still)
There’s so much more too. But, if you can get an invite … DO IT! It will prepare you for the future of telephony.
